This view was painted from the field studybelow looking south from Potlatch #2 campsite in the Lodore Canyon on the Green River in Colorado. As the sun rose in the sky, the opposing canyon walls would light up in a majestic display of color.

This oil is a field study that survived our raft getting flooded when pinned on a rock. Much of our gear had to be cut loose from the raft and floated downriver in their drybags to be retrieved a half-mile or more below until the raft could be lifted off the rock! It survived the whole ordeal.
