Pienza Arch
Plein Air Oil on Canvas Panel 16 x 12 Inches $1100 Framed
The sun was moving fast, so I quickly painted in this scene looking out through the stone and brick arch at the end of Via Del Balzello in the walled fortress of Pienza. The rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside are framed through the arch by cypress trees on the right and the sunlit wall on the left. Pienza really impressed me with its great architecture. It seemed there was a painting to be done everywhere I turned, and not enough time... even this plein air had to be finished in the studio due to nightfall.
