Jackson Lake Before Mt. Moran
Plein Air Oil on Canvas Panel 9 x 12 Inches Sold
About 5 miles northwest of Willow Flats is a beautiful spot on Lake Jackson named Colter Bay. The shoreline is composed of rounded stones (smoothed by glaciers) rather than a sandy beach. The blue-green, crystal clear lake is stunning. I'm standing 6 miles from the base shoreline of Mount Moran or 8 miles to the peak. The day began with all snowfields in direct sunlight, but as the sun moved the shadows began to create interesting patterns on the mountains which I captured here.
