Ahhhh, Vernazza, the jewel of the Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera. One of the most scenic of the five fishing villages built into cliffsides dropping sharply to the sea. Protected by a natural harbor (and a castle dating back to the middle ages), Vernazza is graced by colorful boats, moored to red buoys, that remind us of the days when fishing was its main industry. I'm painting here on the breakwater looking back across the small harbor to the waterfront of Vernazza.
