June 7-12, I traveled to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to paint with my good friend Bill Smith whose house has spectacular views of the Teton Mountain range. Another great artist John Taft came up from Colorado to join us. We painted several plein air oil paintings in Grand Teton National Park and rafted 8 miles down the Snake River just below the Tetons. Truly inspiring. Click here to see those paintings and read my narrative.
Two of my paintings were accepted into the 2007 Paint America 2ndMini50 competition.
I spent two wonderful weeks last Fall painting in Italy: the first week on the gorgeous Italian Riviera in the Cinque Terre region where I based out of the fishing village of Vernazza attending a workshop led by Scott Burdick. Colorful boats, buildings and people. Then the second week, I rented a small car and ventured alone into the beautiful countryside and hill towns of Tuscany: visiting places like Montalcino, Pienza, Cortona, Lucca and Volterra! Italy really is as scenic and beautiful as they say. Check out my Italy Trip Page to see the smaller plein air paintings done on that trip or the larger studio works since I've returned. I've been so busy with larger paintings of Cinque Terre that I have yet to begin any studio paintings of Tuscany! Can't wait to start.
